Welcome to the Arthur H. Robinson Map Library
A collection of maps, aerial photographs, & geospatial data
Geospatial Data Collections
One goal of the Robinson Map Library is to archive and digitally preserve Wisconsin county and municipal data layers for use in research and teaching. The archive contains over 1 Tb of geospatial data and dates back to 2006. Framework layers actively collected include tax parcels and assessment data, transportation networks, addressing/E911, municipal boundaries, land use, hydrography, and zoning.
View our inventory or use the data request form to request data online.
Now Online! Access to WI GIS data for the UW-Madison community
Select data layers for nearly all 72 Wisconsin counties can be directly downloaded from GeoData@UW-Madison, our new online geoportal (currently in beta) for quick access to Wisconsin GIS data for educational use.
Aerial Photography Collections
The library is home to the largest collection of print historic aerial photographs of Wisconsin. With over 260,000 images in the collection, Wisconsin's landscapes are visible dating back to 1937. Aerial imagery flights of Wisconsin were captured by several agencies including the US Department of Agriculture, the US Geological Survey, the WI Department of Natural Resources, and local county government offices.
