Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Remote Sensing & Cartography on Display at GIS Day Expo!
November 20th - Memorial Union (Great Hall) - 9:00am - 3:30pm

What is GIS Day? GIS Day is an international day of education about Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and geography. Thousands of organizations around the world will hold local events such as open houses, hands-on workshops, community expos, school assemblies,
and more! GIS Day is part of National Geography Awareness Week.
GIS Day at the UW-Madison. The theme of this year's GIS Day at the UW is "History: Education: Research: Application".
The Expo will feature over 40 organizations from the private and public sectors who will demonstrate GIS applications and geospatial technologies via exhibitor booths and presentations. UW groups will talk about research projects in the areas of GIS, cartography and remote sensing.
The event will also feature a map gallery (both paper and interactive) and and special interactive timeline exhibit about the history of GIS and land information in Wisconsin. Students can also learn about career opportunities in this rapidly growing field.
In addition to the Expo, an Into to GIS Workshop will be held from 4-6 pm in the adjacent Science Hall for University students, staff and members of the general public.
High school students, teachers and administrators are especially welcome to attend. Grade 9-12 geography activities are planned. There will also be information and resources for educators interested in using GIS to teach in the classroom.
The Expo is free and open to the public. Drop in anytime to explore the map gallery and exhibitor booths, or see the speaker schedule to catch a particular presentation.
