Geography 329: Landforms and Landscapes of North America

Wasatch Front, eastern edge of the Basin and Range Province

This course is an introduction to the evolution of North American landscapes over geologic time. The focus is on some of the continent’s most interesting and distinctive landscapes, such as the Basin and Range region, the Colorado Plateau, the Rocky Mountains, the Great Lakes, and the Appalachians. The unique nature of these landscapes can only be understood by considering their long-term history and the tectonic and geomorphic processes that shaped them.
