PROGRAM GOALS Conduct research using GIS (Applying GIS to geographic problems in an academic setting). Using GIS as a tool. Emphasis is on the use of GIS in conducting other geographic research Conduct research in GIS (Studying GIS to develop new techniques in the field of GIS). Emphasis is on the development of new GIS tools. Apply GIS to geographic problems in a non-academic setting.  Emphasis is on developing the ability to use GIS techniques.

•  Basic undergraduate geography major requirements consisting of one course in each of five areas of concentration: may be fulfilled after admission through additional coursework. •  A course in quantitative methods, two courses in mathematics, and at least two intermediate or advanced courses in geography. •  Introductory course in statistical methods.

TUITION Students pay graduate tuition and fees. For 2007/08, 8 or more credits are $4,821.20 (WI residents) and $12,456.24  (non-residents). Students pay tuition and fees on a per-credit basis.  The 2007/08 rate is $604.40/credit for both in-state and out-of-state residents. A minimum of 20 credits must be taken in the program.
