The European Union Center at the UW-Madison is part of a network of EU centers in the U.S. Since it was established in 1998, the Center has received continuous funding from the European Commission . At the UW, the EUC cooperates closely with its partners in the European Studies Alliance - the Center for European Studies, the Center for German and European Studies, and the Center for Interdisciplinary French Studies. The European Union Center seeks to:
- improve understanding of the EU as a complex, evolving governance system and international actor,
- enhance awareness of the growing importance and widening scope of EU-U.S. relations, and
- promote intensified "people-to-people" links among EU and U.S. citizens.
